The Knackers: Home

Thanks to everyone who showed up last time, and better luck next time to those that didn't

Hey peeps,

We finally have a track up onsite that includes Meg May on fiddle and Elegwen Ó Maoileóin on low whistle, and of course Chris Bowman on drums, Phil Lo on electric upright bass and yours truly on guitar and vox.

It was finely recorded at Crying Sky Studios, and engineered by Kelly Armstrong.

The track "Battle of the Ballatine Pier" recalls past days in recent history in the city of Vancouver, April 23rd 1935 to be exact.

As the story goes, 1700 out of work men took to the streets of Vancouver, and began raising awareness on the homelessness problems that had lead them to army run camps, where they rounded up hobo's and kept them out of site out of mind by herding them into these camps far away from the cities.

After rioting in Vancouver and holding them off at Carnegie Hall until there demands were met (3 days wages), they organized a march, from Vancouver to Otawa. They named it the "On to Otawa" march , and they called themselves " The Trekkers"

The rest of the story comes alive with fiddle, whistles, guitar and percussion. Please enjoy this little piece of history, and please drop a note.
